I watched a movie Honey (2017) and I must say it was pretty hilarious to notice again all the cliches now that I had written them down. But it was a pretty ok movie, though!
Nowadays when I start watching something, the chances of finding something good quality are pretty good if what I'm about to watch is
1. New
2. Shot with a good camera
So you can usually tell whether the movie is good just by looking the first couple of minutes.
But the cliches I found!
- The protagonist is a cute but uncool girl moving to a new city
Yes she's cute and not very cool, she didn't move to a new city but started high school so a new class and a little after another girl moves there and joins the class.
- There are two popular cool boys in the class
Not popular but again, there are two males and one is the cool one.
- The protagonist girl ends up living close to them
Actually not but they seemingly live close to each other as they end up going to school together??
- The other of the guys is nice and sweet and the other is cool and unfriendly
Oh yes, but pretty soon the cool one turns out to be really nice.
- At the beginning it seems like the protagonist gets along with the sweet guy but at the end the cool one was the one after all
Wow not this time!
- Other girls at the class are cute and jealous and bully the protagonist
Yes the girl gets bullied
- ...And of course these princes help her
Yes the cool one: he's known for fighting so people don't want to get into trouble with him
- At some point the protagonist girl gets hurt and they go to infirmary
No infirmary, wow!
- If there's only one guy then it's just the mean one (I have no idea, apparently Japanese girls find mean guys attractive...??)
No mean guys in leading roles, wow!
- The aquarium date
No aquarium??
- School trip camping in a forest and the protagonist gets lost in a forest and of course the prince comes to save her
Exactly, this is exactly what happened.
I must say my checklist works pretty well....
