This time surprisingly I will not talk about idols but a producer!
You may not have heard the name Yasutaka Nakata, but I guess many of you have seen this video 7 years ago...
The song is made by him. He actually makes a big deal of popular Japanese electronic music. He still makes all songs for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (above) but he's well known also for making music for the super popular trio Perfume and his oldest project capsule (which I'm not too familiar with). He also does DJ stuff and so. But he makes just such magical sounds. He's a genius. For cute and happy style you should check Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, for artistic stuff capsule and for dance music kind of elctropop Perfume.
(On a side note I'm happy to have been on stage at a same dance music festival as him, I knew his DJ slot would be so late we'd be leaving by then but I luckily stepped out of the container (don't know if this is the right English word) on the backstage the moment he passed it. I was stupid enough never to go see him live while I still lived in Japan but yes now I know he's real. I saw most of my idols on the backstages of festivals so I got used to this but you know, one of Japan's most popular producers you don't just meet like that. It was a beautiful moment.)
But let's go to my main point: the actual masterpieces! One of my absolute favourites is this collaboration with Japan's just as popular musician Kenshi Yonezu. If I should mention two of my favourite Japanese musicians I'd day the two so of course this piece is golden. It's made by Nakata and lyrics and singing is by Yonezu.
I really love lyrics written by Yonezu so if you're interested you can read them here!

Japanese is so different as a language that you actually can't really translate it to English like from western languages so it's better really to know Japanese and listen to the original lyrics but anyway the lyrics are beautiful. It's actually fun that when this song came I didn't understand Japanese at all so now listening to this and understanding big part of the lyrics when listening it's ...magic! (Happened with looots of songs, a whole new world opened to me)
NANIMONO is actually theme song of a movie called surprisingly 'NANIMONO' (I had high expectations on but when I finally saw it wasn't even good haha) It tells about young people searching for jobs, in Japanese universities the last year of studies is job hunting so it's basically about struggling with future plans.
And before I jump into Perfume I need to mention how happy I was about another collaboration Nakata did with idol group CY8ER's (I mentioned in the first diary post) member! When your favourite artists do collabs it's... perfect. Even though I'm not a fan of the song really haha.
But yeah to mention Perfume! It's super popular electric music trio Nakata makes all the music for. Just going to list a few good pieces!
This is their latest MV Let Me Know, not so dance music like as usual but I still like it a lot. Their music has gone to more that direction lately.
Some more of their newest production, If You Wanna and FLASH. FLASH is the theme song for a live action movie of a super popular manga series Chihayafuru.
Aand Miracle Worker! I found it by looking at a live compilation video and I tought it would be cool in a DJ set so here you go (I will regret this later)...
There's Nakata's production at the beginning and 4:52.
And now that I think about it the very first solo dance cover (which is not so good haha) I ever uploaded (4 years ago) was also Nakata's song.
So yeah
Now you understand why I find myself slightly stupid for not going to see one of his DJ sets where he basically mixes all the music he has produced.

Oh wow, you like Kenshi Yonezu too? He's actually one of my favourite artists! I haven't listened to NANIMONO many times, but I'm listening to it again now and just wondering why is it missing from all my playlists...? Thanks for the reminder though, now I have something amazing and sort of new to listen to this autumn :)
VastaaPoistaI've listened to couple of Perfume's songs before, but I have somehow completely missed the name Yasutaka Nakata... Explains a lot though, just looking at his discography there's lots of quality content there. You're really lucky to have seen him, and I'm sure one day you'll be able to see him perform live too!
I am SO happy to hear someone I know likes the same music I do!! Wow! Yaaaaaay! This is rare!
PoistaAnd I'm happy I managed to remind you of NANIMONO, I used to listen to it so much when it came out until I had listened to it way too much. I still love it!
We must talk together more about Yonezu sometime..! c:
I've actually listened to Perfume for a couple of years now. I really enjoy them from time to time and also the visual style of their music videos. I've seen some clip of their live shows too, it looks very impressive. The new stuff sounds so fresh and nice also.
VastaaPoistaI should check the collaborations too.
